The banks off Leeward are shallow, still and clear enough that a transparent hull stops being a gimmick — conch, rays and juvenile lemon sharks pass under the seat while you paddle. Morning departures go before the trade wind gets up around eleven; the drone-photo versions add a pilot overhead for about thirty dollars more.

Little Water Cay

Grand Turk runs on cruise-ship time, then stops.
Seven miles long, one main road, donkeys standing on it. The ships are alongside by eight and gone by four, so the island has two speeds: go with them for the tram and the stingrays at Gibbs Cay, or stay the night and have Cockburn Town to yourself.

What a day on the Caicos water actually costs.
Every tour on the site, cheapest first. Per-person seats and whole-boat charters live in different worlds here, so the ladder carries both.

The best hour in Providenciales is the last one.
The trade wind drops, the banks go flat and pink, and the sunset boats push off Grace Bay. For a few nights after each full moon the glow worms come up in the shallows and the same boats go back out after dark.
Provo is where the boats leave from.

On Provo you rent a cart. On Grand Turk you have to.
There is no bus worth the name and taxis are priced per person, so most visitors end up driving. A four-seat golf cart is the standard on Grand Turk, where nothing is more than fifteen minutes away; on Provo a buggy or a UTV gets you up the Blue Hills road and out past the salinas. Driving is on the left, mostly in left-hand-drive cars — take the first roundabout slowly.
